Really cool news on the planting front.

Carey and I spent Tuesday afternoon in Oklahoma City.  We visited the elementary school for the downtown area and were very pleased with the prospect of our kids attending there.  We spent a couple of hours driving the neighborhoods to get a better feel for who lives and works in the community.  We ate dinner with Ben and his family and then went to the Bible study they do at a local coffee shop on Tuesday nights.  Carey and I both really enjoyed Ben’s teaching – he is very gifted at both dividing the Word accurately and presenting it with enthusiasm and winsomeness.  Afterwards we stayed and talked further with Ben and Mindy.  We all spoke transparently about concerns, weaknesses, theology, strategy and blessings.  It was a very encouraging conversation.  As Carey and I drove home we both sensed that God had shown up and had continued to open our eyes to the realities and possibilities of planting in OKC with Ben and Mindy.  The next step is for Ben and me to talk through and flesh out what each of our roles would be in the church plant.

I am very aware of my tendency to run ahead of God.  Because of that we’re trying to take this slow and wait on Him.  At this point we haven’t come across anything to dissuade or discourage us regarding this endeavor.  We’re looking forward to the next time we get to hang out with Ben and Mindy.
