New Year – new friends January 3, 2010

Carey and I spent New Year’s Eve with some new friends – Lam and Sara – who live across the street from us.  They invited us to Opening Night which is Oklahoma City’s Downtown New Year’s Eve Celebration.  All of the kids stayed with Nana and Papa so that we could go.

We ate dinner at The Mantel which was absolutely fantastic.  One of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten.  We had a blast talking and laughing with Lam and Sara.  So much so that we missed the other festivities going on downtown because we spent over 2 hours at dinner.

Once we realized it was after 10:30 we walked down to Kerr Park to watch the ball drop and to enjoy the fireworks along with tens of thousands of fellow OKC-ans.

We ended up standing next to the news reporter from Channel 4 and during the fireworks Madi called us to say that she saw us on the news.

We normally just stay home on New Years Eve, but I’m glad that we tried something new this year:)

Sounds like God had way more fun planned for you than you could have dreamed up on your own. Reminds me of a verse:

“Now to Him who does exceedingly, abundantly, far beyond all you could ever hope or dream, to Him be all glory and power and dominion forever” (Ephesians 3:20).
