The day the world stood still April 15, 2010

Most of you are probably aware of my love(read obsession) for Chick-Fil-A.  If not, the video below will inform you.

But I had a tragic experience on Tuesday.  Carey and I went for a lunch date to Chick-Fil-A.  Everything was going so well.  The waffle fries were the right amount of crispy, the sandwich was the right amount of tender.  Then I took a long swallow of the sweet tea I’d spent the whole morning thinking about.  Imagine my horror when a strange, tangy presence invaded my palette.  The tea was awful.  I was so shocked, I couldn’t even bring myself to leave the table to tell the manager.  I’d never had an experience like this.  I poured it out and drank a Dr. Pepper.  It was a good Dr. Pepper.  But it wasn’t the same and my lunch was marred.

All that said, I can’t wait to go back next week.  Surely I should have expected that out of 500 visits, one would fail to live up to my high expectations.  I know deep down that Chick-Fil-A will redeem itself.  My mouth will be blessed with the taste of sweet tea, and I’ll sing once more.

It is a BAD day when I get Chick-Fil-A at the drive thru — my usual, 5-piece kids meal with a lemonade — and the window attendant FORGOT the Polynesian sauce. That, my friend, is the worst.
