Time Away August 10, 2010

Posted by clintcarter in Family.

One thing about moving into and remodeling a 100 yr old home is that you don’t get a lot of time to relax.  The past 6 weeks have been very productive, but also very taxing.  Carey told me last week that we needed some time away.  Away from the house, away from the kids, away from any thing that resembles responsibility and work.

One of the great things about having in-laws who own a bed and breakfast is that I have in-laws who own a bed and breakfast.  Debby and Cecil offered to watch the kids and let us stay in the Honeymoon Cottage.  The kids are under the impression that we dropped them off at Nana and Papa’s and went somewhere else.  So it has been a quiet and peaceful couple of days.

We have had a great time being together.  Monday we went to the land of love (also known as Lawton, OK) to hang out at the mall and watch a movie – unfortunately the film melted about two-thirds of the way through.  We still had a good time.  Today we went joy riding in the golf cart around the town of Duncan and checked out the antique shops.  I’m definitely not an antiquer.  No appreciation for the finer things in life here.

We’ve stayed up late watching movies and slept in every  morning.  It has been fantastic few days.  Tomorrow it will be back to work.  But it’s been nice to have a break and a time to reconnect with my Hunny.
